Math 207 : Discrete Structures I

Course Text:  Discrete Mathematics and Its Applications, 6th Ed. by Kenneth Rosen, McGraw Hill.

Lecture:    Section 001   (3)   TTh 4:00-5:15 PM  MAYBANK HALL 108

Course Description: (3) Theoretical concepts applicable to the theory of computing. Topics covered will be from the areas of: formal logic and proofs, sets, matrix algebra, relations and functions, recurrence relations, and graph theory. 

Prerequisite: MATH 105, 111 or 120.

Calculator: Portions of the exams and homework may require a graphing calculator such as the TI-86.

Dates to remember:

Last day for students to Drop/Add for full semester and Express I classes; Last day of 100% refund:   January 16.  

Last day for students to withdraw with a W from Spring semester classesWednesday, February 23.

Spring Break:  March 1 - 8

Midterm exams:  Tuesday, February 10,  and Tuesday, March 24.

Final Exam :  Saturday, May 2, 7:30-10:30 P.M. (Maybank 108) .

Note:  Make up tests will be given only under extraordinary circumstances.  If you miss an exam, you must obtain a written excuse from the Dean of Undergraduate Studies.

Grading Policy:  There will be two midterms on: Tuesday, February 10,  and Tuesday, March 24.  Each midterm will be worth 20%, the final will be worth 40% and the homework 20%.   The lower bound percentages for the various grades are given below:
